Our Story

Homemade grits simmering on the kitchen stovetop were common in our home. Our mother raised seven of us, and in between fishing along the shores of coastal Florida, I remember spending family meals around our little pine table eating grits — warm and creamy, served with pork, shrimp, steak, and eggs — melting in our mouths as the sun peered through the window shades.

My endeavors into adulthood led to the past 30 years as a chef and restaurant owner of one of Jacksonville’s most frequented hot spots on the beach. As an entrepreneur, I began creating original dishes for our restaurant with enthusiasm over grits in mind. There were two ways to serve grits — a lengthy process on the stove in order to make them just right — with dry grits being the only alternative at the time.

Was there a way to replicate my mother’s velvety homemade grits that are a perfect addition to any cuisine? This pursuit led to our professional, chef-driven product. Gracious Grits is the first and only microwaveable grit that are equivalent in taste and substance to the grits cooked in a kitchen at home.

Located throughout Florida and the Southeastern United States, Gracious Grits can be found in over 1100 Publix grocery stores with more to come. Versatile for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, our grits are made with natural ingredients and are for people — single moms or dads, working families — and everyone else on the go, who crave a homecooked meal in minutes.
